Spicebush Berries
My laptop blew up today and is now a paperweight … but, I found Spicebush berries, so who cares!!
…if that offers you any insight into how meaningful to me this pretty plant is.
Spicebush! (Lindera benzoin) is a small, deciduous tree that grows in the Appalachian areas, although I’ve harvested it as far north as Cleveland.
🥧 It’s a dreamy addition to apple pies, slow cooker roasts, and chai (as in, the American way of partaking chai).
🤧 Medicinally, I’ve personally used it in situations where digestive upset or tending is needed; when coughs and wintertime sickness is present; and in my morning tea for stoking much needed circulation and warmth when the dew has turned to frost.
This plant will be a fun addition to my Samhain Potion Boxes, which I will offer more information on in the coming days 🔮
Is Spicebush a plant ally you know or WANT to know?
